Harvard Graduate Council has the authority to author and approve resolutions on behalf of all graduate students at Harvard University. A resolution is a formal declaration of a request, concern, issue, complaint, or call to action.
The resolution must pertain to university-wide matter. If a resolution is presented that does not pertain to university-wide matters, HGC must approve the presentation of the resolution by a simple majority. All resolutions must be approved by two thirds (2/3) of the quorum present at a General Council meeting.
HGC has approved the following resolutions during the 2022-2023 academic year:
- Harvard Graduate Council Supports Race-Conscious Admissions
- University Student Groups
- Harvard Stands with the People of Iran
