Angela Han, Harvard Extension School

Angela Han is currently a second-year Master's student at Harvard concentrating in Government. She has extensive experience working with NGOs promoting education, human rights, and assistance to the disadvantaged. As a finalist in the Miss World Canada Competition, her project of "Beauty with a Purpose" resonates in her advocacy to maximize access to education, healthcare services, and employment opportunities for children at risk. She has fundraised and volunteered for organizations such as the Children's Wish Foundation, which pioneered the idea of wish fulfillment for seriously and terminally ill children in more than 53 countries. Children's Village, building homes for orphans of incarcerated parents in China, and the Harvard Square Homeless Shelter here in Cambridge. She has also utilized her philanthropic skills in programs such as the Humanitarian and Conservation Project to ensure access to clean water for remote villages in Fiji and thru-hiked the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada in four months organizing a successful fundraiser to raise awareness of environmental degradation. Utilizing her experience as a journalist interviewing politicians as well as her time interning in the Cambridge mayoral office of Marc McGovern, she learned how public policy could marshal government resources to alleviate communities from social ills. Following the completion of the ALM Program, she plans to continue her studies at the GSAS Doctorate Program in International Relations and to continue her life mission of promulgating and protecting social justice policies for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged members of society.
