A Message to the Harvard Kennedy School Community

November 9, 2016

Yesterday's election results have come as a shock to many and has brought to light the extremely polarized climate of the US. A group of students on campus are organizing to create a collective space for healing and brainstorming for action. We'll be meeting tonight from 8:30pm-10:30pm in Starr Auditorium

The time from 8:30pm-9:30pm will be reserved for healing and support, especially for members of our community who have been directly impacted by some of the negative rhetoric espoused in this campaign cycle. Starting from 9:30pm the conversation will shift more towards action and organizing. For the Action portion of the evening, please find this google doc of proposed ideas for mobilization.

We hope to use this as an opportunity for dialogue and movement building to decrease the polarization and alienation felt by many members of our community. We invite everyone, from any side of the conversation, to please join us tonight in the Starr Auditorium. Please send this to your list serves across the community. Food and beverages will be provided. Feel free to reach out should you have any questions or concerns.

Wishing you all the best,

On Behalf of the Diversity Committee Co-Chairs
(Dean Karen Jackson-Weaver, Hazami Barmada, Lauren Powell, and Shannon Thomas)
