"The 2013 Harvard Leadership Conference is an example of the power of unifying and leveraging the great strengths that exist throughout the University. This year's theme—collaboration—presents a range of opportunities to become more closely connected members of our extraordinary community."
- Drew Gilpin Faust, President and Lincoln Professor of History
Welcome to the 2013 Harvard Leadership Conference!
Working across countries and cultures, disciplines and differences, finding common ground, breaking barriers, and moving forward through collaborative and meaningful partnerships are the skills necessary and crucial in leadership. The 2013 Harvard Leadership Conference: Collaboration Across Cultures, intends to be both a physical and virtual environmental space in which the Harvard Graduate community, encompassing all 12 Harvard Graduate Schools, will be exposed to and actively engage in the foundations and practice of collaborative leadership skills. The conference emphasizes three keys areas: Skills, Studios, and Speakers.
The 2013 Harvard Leadership Conference is a participatory, active and engaging conference. The Conference Organizing Committee is utilizing technology, the Internet and the concept of spaces to create an arena in which the experience of collaboration can be maximized for conference participants. Everything from the flow of conference participants in the physical space, to how to connect participants in the virtual space, to the topic areas for participants to discuss in the intellectual space, has been considered.
It is our hope that through this conference, participants can realize the importance of collaboration in leadership and the conference itself can be a stepping stone in providing a foundation of skill sets and thoughts which lead to meaningful change.
This conference is supported by the Dean of Student offices at the Harvard Law School, Harvard Business School, Harvard Kennedy School, Harvard Extension School, Harvard Graduate School of Education, Harvard Graduate School of Design, School of Engineering and Applied Science, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Harvard Divinity School, Harvard Medical School, Harvard School of Public Health, Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Office of the Provost, Office of the University Marshal and the Office of Sustainability.
