Advocacy is a critical element of HGC's mission. Representing our respective student bodies, we regularly take a stand on issues affecting student safety, fairness, or marginalized communities across Harvard University as a whole.
Our goal is to be more unifying than divisive, which generally precludes taking a stand on political or societal issues outside of Harvard, since we recognize that we represent students from a diverse set of backgrounds, views, beliefs. However, if a political concern directly affects the Harvard community in a major way and is itself highly divisive, the graduate and professional students of Harvard may determine that to take a stand brings them together above all.
When a significant yet controvercial issue affects the Harvard community, we may also play a role in providing resources from multiple perspectives to help students form their own conclusions.
